Chinese display hack on WM6 (tested on ASUS P535)

Since upgraded my P535 to WM6, I love the new platform very much. It's robust stable and much attractive interface and the most important is Live integration, which finally given a official way to synchronize my contact list from Internet. I have waited this feature year ago and now I can synchronize my Plaxo with MSN. Once Google enabled contact list synchronization, the world will be perfect hence all the stuff is well synchronized. I always believe that data well synchronized and organized is a way to improve my productivity.

Even the WM6 is rock this version, however I still suffering a big problem in WM6 which is Chinese display. Monster Chinese or CE-star always crash my phone or troubling Internet connection. In fact Windows Mobile is unicode basis, however might due to some politic reason. The Windows Mobile only allows single language at the same time, what's a dammit decision. Fortunately the crazy geek on xda-developers has some solution and applied on my P535 is rock. Below is the procedure but remind that this only work on english WM6 and not 100% work on every WM6. However this procedure is harmless so you can take a try and let see whether work on your PPC.

1. Download CE-star setup package from his site and then extract sunglobe.ttf inside
2. Copy sunglobe.ttf to your WM6 "\Windows" directory
3. Create four String registry entry under key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink"
• "Times New Roman"="\Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
• "Arial"="\Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
• "Courier New"="\Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
• "Tahoma"="\Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
4. Now is final step, reset your PPC. However don't do this immediately, because for some reason, WM6 MAY NOT write your registry changes to database immediately. In my case, I will try to change the Ringtone sound and play a while to give time my PPC save the changes
5. After reset, you should able watch chinese text on rock stable english platform.
6. If you need chinese input, you can download any chinese IME from Internet, e.g. Monster Chinese IME

Day of Crash?

Today headline definitely is the stock market. US still blowing bad debt storm, Yen keeping strong, Hangseng index is pig jump this few days. Haha, luckily survived before the roller coaster start . Might be the bad atmosphere so induce many drivers feeling bad mood or frustrated. How come at the same night had so many car crashed in different tunnels. Also US had a big bridge collapse. Today is really a crazy and ridiculous day.

Killer Concept PUG!!

Wow!!! Peugeot finally created a killer car, no more bored big mouth hatchback. 308 RC Z, a concept coupe pug with 218bhp BMW & Peugeot co-developed turbo engine. Performance isn't a problem, but the outlook is dammit cool. It looks much like an Audi TT, also is a compact coupe with sexy and elegant outlook.
